What is computer vision syndrome?
Computer vision syndrome is when your eyes have vision-related problems due to excessive use of computers. Many people experience eye discomfort and other problems when viewing the screen for an extended period of time. For example, there might be blurry vision, dry eye, eye strain etc. due to this illness. How is it caused?
This is mainly caused by staring at computer screens for an extended period of time. The main factors are poor lighting, poor sitting position, viewing distance etc. When the screen is too dark or light, they may be discomfort to our eyes and poor sitting position can affect us since looking at screens lying down can cause only one eye to see the screen which can lead to sight failing. Lastly, viewing distance I think causes our eyes the most. This is because if you go near to the screen and stare the number of time you blink reduces which can lead to a dry eye. However, if this continues and repeats a lot of times, there is a chance of failing sight. Being too far away from the screen is also not good since the words seem smaller and you have to squint our eyes to look which leads to dry eye again and so on. |
How does it affect our body?
Many people experience eye discomfort and other problems when viewing the screen for an extended period of time. For example, there might be blurry vision, dry eye, eye strain, sight loss, headache etc. All of these factors are because we look at the screen non-stop, making our eyes dry which is the cause of blurry vision and eye strain. Too much focus can make your eyes blur, cause headache and your eyes red because there is lack of water from blinking in your eye. Also, you can get pain from parts of your body due to unsuitable positions and lastly get sight failing due to all these reasons- improper position, not blinking, poor lighting, improper viewing distance etc. |
